While DSU libraries purchase and subscribe to a wide variety of resources, our scholars also find materials not available at DSU. In these cases, we can borrow most resources from other libraries using Interlibrary Loan (or ILL). ILL is a free service to help you get the resources you need for your research!

What can I borrow? The most common ILL requests are for articles from databases, which can be expensive to access on your own. Additionally, you can request that print books be mailed to main campus or DVDs, audiobooks, or other media.
How do I make a request? Use the Request Form linked above. You'll need to fill out all the fields with an asterisk (*), so make sure you have that information available.
How do I know when my request is available? You'll receive an automated e-mail. If the item was a 'copy' request (for an article or scanned chapter), the e-mail will have a link and unique password for retrieval. If the item was a 'loan' request (print book, DVD, CD, etc.), the e-mail will let you know it's available at the W. C. Jason library on main campus.
I can't visit main campus in Dover, DE. Can I still use Interlibrary Loan? YES! Distance learners can use ILL for 'copy' requests. A 'copy' request can be for a pdf of an article, chapter of an e-book, or chapter of a print book. If you accidently had a 'loan' request sent to the main library, reach out to library staff! We can scan a portion of the material -- within U.S. Copyright law -- and email it to you.
How do I return items? Just drop it off at either the W. C. Jason library or R. H. Parker library and library staff will send it back for you. Please keep any paperwork that came with the loan inside the book to assist library staff with returning your item.
