How do I....?
... get an account?

To setup your library account, fill out our patron form. You'll need an active D# and university e-mail address.

To check on an existing account, call our Circulation desk at 302-857-6191 or e-mail at LibCirc@desu.edu

Learn more about borrowing resources here.

...use a study room?

Individual private study rooms are available first-come-first-serve on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors of the W. C. Jason library.

Group study rooms on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors of the W.C. Jason library require check-out. Please visit the main desk. One member of the group will need an active library account to check out the room.

A group study room is available at the Parker Library on a first-come-first-serve basis. Additional study areas can be found on the 2nd floor.

...borrow a laptop or calculator?

To borrow a laptop or calculator, students must have an active library account.

Laptops are for in-library-use only for a 4-hour check-out period (or when the library closes, whichever is sooner.)

Calculators can be checked out of the library to take to class. The loan period for calculators is 2-hours.

All borrowing policies are available here.

...get research help?

A reference librarian can provide you with one-on-one research assistance! You can reach out by phone at 302-857-6180, by email at LibRef@desu.edu, or by using the LibChat on our website. You can also visit the reference desk at the W. C. Jason library. Or view one of our Research Guides to get started now!

... borrow books or access articles from other libraries?

Sometimes the resource you wish to read is an article or book that isn't available through DSU's library service or you see a paywall. You can request access using Interlibrary Loan, a free service through partnerships with other libraries worldwide to help you access materials DSU doesn't subscribe to or own. Visit our Interlibrary Loan page to learn more.

... get my required textbooks?

Required textbooks for university courses need to be purchased through the University Bookstore in the M.L.K. Center on main campus or online here

The library does not purchase sets of required textbooks, but may have an older edition. Check your course syllabus for your professor's requirements regarding the specific textbook and edition needed. Use of other similar resources is at the discretion of your course instructor, not the library staff.

...work in the library as a student assistant? Check for available library jobs on JobEx. More information on eligibility and how to complete work-study applications can be found here on the Student Employment page of desu.edu. For questions about availability, you may also reach out to the Executive Director of Library Services, Ondrea Murphy, at omurphy@desu.edu.
