You will need your D# set up in the library's system in order to gain access to any journal or e-book in the library's electronic resources.
If you're a new library user, complete the PATRON FORM to have your library account set up. (Process usually takes ~10-15 minutes during library hours.)
If you believe your account is set up, but haven't used it in awhile, call 302-857-6191 or e-mail LIBCIRC@desu.edu and ask if your account is ready or needs renewal. You will be asked to provide your D#.
In a peer-reviewed scholarly article, an abstract is a comprehensive summary of the contents of the article including keywords at the end of the summary. An abstract can also be a short sentence or two from popular or trade journals.
Example: "Spillovers of good and bad volatility in Asian emerging markets." (B. Baba, 2024).
By reading the abstract, we learn this article is about a study that "analyzes spillovers...in Asian emerging markets." The study found that "spillovers from most global stock markets... materialize as spillovers of bad volatility" but that Japan is an exception. The full article will describe this study in much more detail.
The abstract helps the reader decide if this article fits in with their topic before reading the full article.
