Library Circulation Policies

Borrowing Privileges

Borrowing privileges are extended to:

1. DSU faculty, staff, and students with valid DSU identification

2. Early College High School students with valid DSU identification

3. Delaware residents, State of Delaware and City of Dover employees with valid identification

4. Delaware Technical and Community College and University of Delaware faculty, staff, and students with valid identification

5. Delaware high school seniors must have a parent or guardian present for signature at the time of application

All circulating materials must be charged out at the Circulation/Reserves Desk.

Circulation Loan Policies

1. Faculty and Staff: May checkout circulating materials and resources for the entire semester

2. Students: May checkout circulating materials for 21 days (renewals are allowed)

3. Students: 7 Day circulation for certain PERMANENT RESERVES Certification/Recertification Exams, Practice Test and Study Guides (second copies only) and selected Faculty Reserve books.

4. Faculty, Staff, Students and Community : 7 Day circulation for DVD's

5. Community borrowers: May checkout circulating materials and resources for 21 days

Renew Books Online

Students, faculty and staff can access their library account while using the online catalog by clicking on the Renew Books Online tab. Enter your Library Borrower number and DSU ID, both are found on your University ID card.

Access will provide an overview of your account and enable you to view the items you currently have checked out with due dates, holds, blocks or fines. You will not be allowed to renew any items that are overdue or requested by other customers.

You are allowed to renew books twice online. If you have any questions, please contact circulation 302-857-6191.

*** Note: Borrowers are responsible for all library materials charged to their library card.

Access to Library Electronic Databases 

Due to vendor licensing agreements,  access is restricted to Delaware State University students, faculty and staff.
